Japan and USA

Sep 2015 - Current

From struggling with Japanese recipes and studying IKEA and Lego’s, I was inspired to start diagramming recipes in AutoCAD and Illustrator that could be easily and universally understood by everyone.

By September 2015, I launched my food blog, The Chef Charette, to educate and inspire individuals around the world to prep, cook, and bake a variety of aesthetic and comforting dishes.

Typical Recipes

  •  Overly wordy
  • No photographs nor illustrations
  • Intimidating and assume that individuals can understand everything
  • Thus, individuals don't even try or give up

"Diagrams should be so dumbed down that a grandma can understand them."

The Process
Just as architectural diagrams narrate the process of creating a building, recipes provide step-by-step instructions to create delicious meals.

I decided to approach cooking the same way I approach architectural design. Whenever I write a recipe, I also draw constructive diagrams on AutoCAD and Illustrator for how each recipe is assembled, in the way I would draw constructive diagrams for a building.
